Klaus Theodor Henke guides the reader along a section of Upper Lusatia that is particularly steeped in history. This is a section of the ancient trade and military road Via Regia from Görlitz to Bischofswerda. He shows the sights along this route from a completely different perspective. His attention is focused on the ancient Christian traces along the road. However, he does not only concentrate on the sacral buildings, but also prefers to look at the hidden gems inside churches, in chapels and along the way. Along the way, the reader receives a lot of well-founded factual knowledge about the Christian testimonies to the right and left of the path.
With his work, the author not only wants to draw attention to the treasures of our region, but also to call for contemplation and to encourage the viewer to reflect on the origin and meaning of what he sees.
